The Spike Story: Turning the Tide on Literacy
At Spike’s Sight Words, we believe that no child should be left behind because they find reading “boring” or “difficult.”
We know the statistics: 1 in 4 children leave primary school without reaching the expected standard in reading. But we also know the solution isn’t more screen time or repetitive worksheets. It’s connection, play, and tactile engagement.
Our award-winning, DfE-vetted (Jaggaer 5075) board game was designed to turn sight word practice into a high-energy adventure. By moving the learning from the screen to the table, we help children build rapid, active recall while having the most fun they’ve ever had in a classroom.
What We Are Looking For
We have the tools and the government vetting—now we need the “Heart.” We are looking for a select group of Pioneer Literacy Leads to help us take Spike into every school or community centre in the UK. You don’t need to be a corporate CEO; you just need to be someone who:

Your Earning Potential
Take Control of Your Income. As a Spike Lead, you are the boss. While you have the freedom to set your own rates, we provide a proven pricing framework used by successful educators to ensure your Hub is both sustainable and rewarding.

Parent-Paid Clubs: We recommend a rate of £8 – £12 per child for a 45–60 minute after-school session.

Example: A Level 2 Hub Lead with 10 children at £10 each earns £100 per hour.

School-Funded Interventions: For schools using Pupil Premium or Catch-Up budgets, we recommend charging £45 – £60 per session for targeted intervention groups.
The “Quick-Start” Math: Because our pilot entry cost is so low, most Level 2 Leads find that their initial toolkit investment of £90 is fully covered after just one or two sessions. Everything you earn after that is your profit.
The Spike Partnership: We succeed only when you do. That’s why we’ve waived all monthly franchise fees. Instead, we use a simple 90/10 revenue split. You keep 90% of your session fees, while the 10% platform fee covers your ongoing marketing updates, portal access, and national brand support.
The “Founding 5” Bonus:
“As a Founding Partner, you will receive our ‘Premium Reward Pack’ (usually reserved for Level 3) regardless of which level you join, to ensure your first sessions are a massive hit with the children.”
To maintain our high standards and ensure every Spike Hub is a safe, trusted environment, all Leads are required to hold a valid Enhanced DBS check and their own Public Liability Insurance. Most of our Pioneer Leads are teachers or TAs who already have these in place. If you’re starting fresh, don’t worry—as part of your onboarding, we provide a step-by-step checklist and point you toward our preferred partners to get you fully covered and ‘school-ready’ in no time.
