WINNER OF ‘NEW START UP BUSINESS OF THE YEAR’ AWARD
What are the Education Today Awards and how did it feel to be nominated?
As you can see from the slides here, we were nominated for an incredible THREE categories including SEND Resouces Supplier of the Year, New Start Up Business of the Year and also for the Corporate Responsibility Award. Being nominated for one last year was exciting but being nominated for 3 this year made it all very, very special! I felt proud and honoured to have our Spike’s logo amongst all these great respected companies!
What was the evening like?
Well as you can imagine, it was very glamorous, glitzy and special! The organisers put on a fantastic event – from the decor, to the Christmas crackers on the table, the presenters, the food – it was all so well organised and so special!
What was it like when they called out Spike’s Sight Words as the WINNER?
Well as you can imagine, there was a lot of screaming from my table! That’s the thing that I really like about these Awards is the people you randomly meet and get talking to and how they are happy for you if you win. Once the shock had sunk in, I realised I had to go up to the stage and receive the award! This was very emotional for me but I held it together and did Spike proud. The whole experience was very surreal and I don’t think I will forget it ever!
A wonderful but surreal moment! Did you notice how I wore a red dress in honour of Spike being red?
All the winners were invited to the stage at the end!
What else did you love about the event?
Other than the win, the food and the drinks – I enjoyed meeting professionals of whom I have admired for many years. I enjoyed telling educators about our board games and when I got home, I enjoyed the feeling of my children being super proud of their mother for winning!
