Spike’s Sight Words Shortlisted for Prestigious BESA Rising Star Award 2026

We are thrilled to share some incredible news: Spike’s Sight Words has been officially shortlisted for the BESA Rising Star Award!

Being recognised by the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) is a landmark moment for us. This nomination isn’t just about a trophy; it’s a validation of our mission to transform literacy through multisensory play and the “Science of Reading.”

Why Spike is Making Waves

The “Rising Star” category celebrates innovation, impact, and a commitment to the education sector. At Spike, we’ve spent the last year proving that learning to read doesn’t have to be a source of “Morning Anxiety” for children.

By focusing on the Affective Filter—the emotional gateway to learning—we’ve created a toolkit that helps educators reach every child, including those with SEND and EAL needs.

The Evidence of Our Impact

This nomination comes on the heels of our latest school trials, where we saw a 100% engagement rate among students using our literacy boards. From primary classrooms to our recent work as an Approved Supplier for adult literacy interventions in secure estates, the “Spike Effect” is real, measurable, and growing.

A Note from our Founder

“Being named a BESA Rising Star nominee is an honour that reflects the hard work of our entire community—the teachers, literacy leads, and parents who have embraced Spike’s Sight Words. We are more motivated than ever to keep ‘making a splash’ in literacy across the UK and beyond!”Sophie Wehbi-Bradley

What’s Next?

As we head toward the awards ceremony, we are focused on expanding our Literacy Hub Leads program and continuing to provide DfE-qualified resources to schools nationwide.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Let’s keep moving the needle on literacy, one word at a time!

The Data Behind the Nomination

We believe our commitment to measurable results is what caught the judges’ eye. In our most recent school trials, we achieved 100% student engagement.

Spike isn’t just a “Rising Star” because of the concept—it’s because of the Evidence of Impact.
